Fortnite introduced split-screen in the game. Here’s how to get it started with another player. Fortnite is a massively popular online multiplayer game that has taken the world by storm. As online multiplayer has taken over as the preferred way of playing multiplayer games, local multiplayer is a lot less common than back in the day. Before online gaming, the only way to play with friends was to have an extra controller and physically go over to their home. Also, screen watching was a heavy thing in this era of gaming, where players can see their opponent’s screens in-order to cheat. These were simpler times. Online multiplayer has taken over as gaming has advanced. Fortnite in a recent update allowed players to go back in time and play locally with a friend. Here’s how to set that up.

In Fortnite, players are pitted against 100 other players to fight to the death for victory. This split-screen mode allows players to work together while on one console. In the instance where only one person has the game, another player can jump in as long as they have another controller. Also, split-screen is only available on the PS4 and Xbox One currently. It is unknown if the feature will make its way to the Nintendo Switch of PC versions of Fortnite. Here is how to play split-screen in Fortnite.

How To Play Split-Screen in Fortnite

This process is very simple. All the player has to do is turn on the other controller and it will automatically connect. The game only works in split-screen if the player is going to do Duos or Squads. Players cannot do Solos with split-screen (which makes sense there’s no other character). There must also be another Playstation or Xbox account on the console. Players can also select “guest” when signing in, but there stats and perks will not save. Also when jumping out of the battle bus, Player 1 is attached to the hip with Player 2 until they land. They cannot be separated.

Fortnite including split-screen in its already massively popular game makes it much easier to pick up and play. A perfect opportunity would be to play with a young sibling. Pass them a controller and let them feel the hype surrounding all of Fortnite. Who knows, after they get killed in the game, they’ll probably never ask to play again. Then the player can invite a real friend over, bring over some snacks, and make a night out of it. That’s what’s special about split-screen. There’s nothing in the world like playing a game with your buddy right by your side.
